Happy Birthday Dixie and Oscar

Being a mother doesn't mean being related by blood.

It means loving someone unconditionally

 And with your whole heart
Hoping to share many, many more birthdays with the both of you.

Wonderlusting part 2

Still counting those days down until vacation. Why-oh-why did I think it was a good idea to wait until Labor Day to get a couple of more added days? We leave in a month and the suitcase is out.

The above picture is of Ramona Falls. We should be able to see it.
And this:

The Weeping Wall on Going the Sun Road in Glacier Park. Then Canon Beach is a given. Please tell me if there is any reason I should not get close to these little star fish. I find them fascinating.

Now this little jewel is nestled somewhere in the hills of San Francisco
and while some may think it's out there-I love it and want my picture taken on it.

Medical questionaire

While everyone is out having fun in the sun, I got to spend some time at the mediquick/hospital this weekend. So not an exciting week end. Not much in the way of social interaction, but I did have a conversation with a nurse.

Notes in parenthesis are just in my head

Nurse: How old are you?
Me: 50
Nurse: Are you married?
Me: yes
Nurse: Any chance you're pregnant?
Me: no (wtf didn't I just tell you I was 50-I'm sick not stupid)
Nurse: Do you have siblings? Are they healthy?
Me: Yes, everyone is healthy but the idiot. (she looks at me like "go on...") he thinks moderate exercise is running 5 miles a day and has a heart condition.
Nurse: Are your parents alive?
(I swear I heard her, but the words didn't register)
Nurse: Are your parents both alive?
Long silence
Me: No (and I officially don't like these fucking questions)
Nurse: Which one?
Me: My mom
Nurse: I'm sorry (me too)

I understand they might use this information in some cases, but they didn't in mine so why waste time? Why take the information down if you won't use it?

not so yummy

I admit I'm addicted to Pinterest and trying new recipes. Some come out over the top-Carrot Cake Jam, Wine Jelly, BBQ in the crock pot, 7 up biscuits.
Some are not so over the top.
I made cool aide meringue cookies-and while they are very pretty they remain uneaten.

The directions were easy to follow and they turned out just like the picture. I made purple and pink.

Elkfest 2015 and the weekend

In the back of my mind, I associate Elkfest with my mom. She always made it a point to come up and attend the festival. I can still see her dancing in the street and clapping to the music. But that's in the past, and I'm trying to focus on the present. Making more memories and sharing good times with those I love.

So Friday, we took Xander and Kaleigh to the Safari Park just outside of Springfield and we all got up close and personal with a camel named Clyde and a few other critters. Xander doesn't care for anything with a long tongue and Kaleigh made really good friends with one of the apes.
Saturday evening Dad treated everyone to a marvelous dinner at Low Gap Cafe (the monster truck in the background belonged to Lauren's friend Scott). If I had known Dad was gonna pay, I might not have ordered the prime rib, but I don't regret it-it was that damn good. There was some live music-and fans blowing and the temperature was just right (sure wish Robyn could have been there-she would have loved it).

At Elkfest, there was a man selling sugar gliders. They are absolutely adorable. Very calm and soft, but at two hundred bucks a pop I really did not want one to become a chew toy for Oscar and Dixie. May be Cocker Spaniels wouldn't chew on them?

Fire works ended the Elk fest. Whistling Dixie was the final band, and they did a great "Newton County" version of Copperhead road.

Fun in the Sun on a cloudy day

Posting some pictures from the weekend
