Amazing Grace on Bagpipes

Early this morning, I took my baby to school. I knew this week would be hard for her, and I wasn't surprised when tears started. She lost a very dear friend a year ago. I hugged her as hard as I could and tried to make her feel better. Any mother can tell you-it's one thing to hurt, but to watch your baby in pain is ten times worse. I wish I could make everything better like kissing a skint knee, but it doesn't work.
This past weekend, I saw a picture of my Grandmother. She's been dead almost 26 years. It took my breath away to see that picture-I could hear her voice and smell her perfume.
So I don't think there's anything to make you stop missing someone. The radio station played a memorial to a fallen soldier on my way to work. Taps was very moving-and "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes made my eyes water uncontrollably, and I could swear I heard Kevin apologizing for cuttin' donuts in the grass on the motorcycle-that's my memory of her fallen friend-a kid that was well-mannered and fun to watch.

One month past Christmas

Did you realize that today Christmas has been over for an entire month? I didn't get charge happy this year, but I'm really glad my boss took me to lunch quite a few times in January. I know there's a recall on peanut butter right now, but it's my backup plan for easy, cheap lunches. And remember those new resolutions-have you forgotten yours?
I have tried a new recipe this month (a keeper only if I use real butter)
I have learned quite a few things-mainly to do with facebook
Lost a couple of pounds(you can take this literally-it was only 2 pounds)
Paid off all my bills? Nope, still working on it.
That exercise thing? Well, let's just hope I do better in the coming weeks.

A million years ago

A million years ago, I had a Troop of Brownies that grew into Girl Scouts. I started out with eleven and when they graduated there were a group of five. I can't tell you how much these girls have always meant to me. I watched them lose teeth, get their first bras, make new friends, discover boys, and make a difference to people they met. One of them is actually get married tomorrow-so good luck BamBam. I hope you're happy and that Scottie realizes how lucky he is.

Give to a Woman...thought for the day

Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. You give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.

So if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit.

The weather outside is frightful

I know Mondays usually suck, but today it really SUCKS. It's the beginning of a five day work week-the first in a couple of weeks. It started out at 35 degrees and just got colder. Then it started to rain. So I'll be in front of the fire with my hot tea.
