To get to Whittier by car, bus, or train you have to go through the longest tunnel in the world, the Anton Anderson Memorial tunnel.
Vehicles are assigned at the half hour. Trains on the hour. It's just one lane and a little more than two and a half miles long. Not gonna lie, my claustrophobia almost got the better of me.
Then we stayed in the building that houses the town of Whittier.
That's right. There are no private homes. This once was an old military base during WWII. The school is here. The post office. A laundry mat. A grocery store. They rent out some rooms and we're staying on the 14th floor over looking the bay. Our bathroom is a lovely shade of pink:
And we have metal cabinets in the kitchen:
It's all very quaint and immaculate.
