Dixie is an excellent mom. In the early stages, she very seldom left the puppies alone. Visitors were strictly monitored under her watchful eyes. I've never seen her attempt to move a puppy. However, I have seen her run to me or Dwight and run back to the puppies and keep doing it over and over until we put a wayward puppy back in the basket. It's funny unless it's happening at one am.
Dixie is sleeping away from the pups now. They will be six weeks old in two days. Sometimes she's sleeping so hard, she snores and the other dogs wake up to watch her.
She also has to tuck the puppies in. No joke, she has to see where they are and sniff them all over then she's ready to leave them until breakfast time. Sometimes she goes to watch them sleeping to make sure that they are ok. Been there girlfriend. Been there. All too quickly they are grown.
